Mission Statement

MFM seeks to bring together musicians from all disciplines, styles, traditions and localities in the cause of their mutual self-betterment; we seek to promote all conditions which benefit the musicians’ community and the music created by it, and oppose all those which do it harm.

MFM and the music community achieved a big victory October 11, 2018: THE MUSIC MODERNIZATION ACT (MMA)
became law. Besides overlooking the MMA for the next 5 years, the Case Act, the Fair Pay Fair Play Act, and the Classics Act will need to be monitored closely. 

Announcement

MFM supports political actions leading to the amendment of the “Safe Harbor” provision (section 512) of the DMCA.

Further details of this, as well as announcements of official MFM action in this regard, will be forthcoming.

Objectives

Work out a general agreement for performing musicians.

Improve the member portal.

Contact NYC’s “musicians friendly” venues and discuss a guaranteed performance agreement.

Invite the VIP (1%) musicians to our organization to advocate #UnityInTheMusicCommunity and #MakingMusicIsAProfession.

Help members become familiar with the inner workings of the music business, including the digital / Internet world.

Form alliances with the AFM and other musician support organizations and support them in their endeavors.

Continue our successful workshop series.

Reach out to politicians who care for musicians rights.

Organize an MFM Music Festival for the end of next year (with performances by our members).

Expand MFM’s on-line magazine  DooBeeDooBeeDoo NY to promote our members
