Not only ALL musicians of ALL genres are invited to attend\, but also music educators\, DJ’s\, Hip Hop artists\, music advocates\, Union people\, etc. according to #UnityInTheMusicCommunity. \nDate: Wednesday\, February 13\, 2019\nTime: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM\nVenue: Wingspan Arts (630 9th Ave\, between 44 & 45 St.\, Suite 602\, NY\, NY 10036)\nContact: 212-586-2330 \nNote: please sign in at the front desk. You must bring a government issued picture ID to be admitted into the building. Use code 1448# to unlock the door to the event space. And please come on time! \nAgenda\n“Musicians….wake up!” – Maria Schneider\n1. Sohrab and Ken Hatfield (AC member) will speak about the issues that have led more and more successful musicians (especially indie musicians) to become music activists. (Examples: Maria Schneider\, David Lowery\, Marc Ribot\, Michele Schocked\, Joe Lovano\, Ken Hatfield\, Billy Harper\, Roger Blanc\, Jimmy Owens\, Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi and many many others).\n\nTheir activism has been both influential in motivating the music community to take action and effective in changing laws affecting our livelihoods\, as demonstrated by recent legislative victories such as MMA.  These activists continue to seek remedies and redress for the inequities of the digital paradigm shift by demanding a broad scale examination of copyright remuneration fairness issues\, as well as actions such as reform of section 512 (safe harbor loophole) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act here in the U.S (which we will address next in the agenda)\, and Article 13 (the copyright directive for the E.U.) in the countries of the European Union.\n\n2. MFM will make an official announcement that it will support political actions to amend the “Safe Harbor” provision (section 512) of the DMCA.\n\n3. Speak about the 61st Annual Grammy Awards “Party” last Sunday in which the attending musicians\, members of the music community and the media missed the opportunity to advocate the 2018 MMA victory and the notion #MakingMusicIsAProfession and #MusicAintFree. \n\nDirections\nClosest Train: A\,C\,E Trains to 42 St. (at 8 Av)\n1\,2\,3 Trains to 42 St. Times Sq. (at Broadway\, 7 Av)\nN\,Q\,R\,W\, 7\, S Shuttle Trains to 42 St. Times Sq.
